Hilton Head Bike Rental - Bike Maintenance Checklist

This bike checklist can help make your Hilton Head bike rental experience more pleasurable.  Must rental companies inspect and maintain their bikes well, but a quick inspections and a little common sense goes a long way and remember to keep the bike rental companies number with you, just in case you have a problem.

1) Ensure your wheels are securely attached, properly adjusted and all spokes are in place.
2) Ensure tires are properly inflated and do not have cracks or show signs of excessive wear.
3) Ensure all reflects are clean and not broken.
4) Your bike is the right size and the seat, handlebars, and brakes are secure and in proper working order.
5) Bike Caliper pads should not be worn and should be properly adjusted.
6) Gear and brake cables on the bike should move freely and free of rust.
7) The bike chain should be free of rust and sand.
8) Bike pedals should be secure and not worn.
9) It is a good idea to lock your bike when not in use, most bike rental companies will require this.
10) Read your bike rental agreement and follow the terms of your contract.
